Cobar

Hi, just wondering if anyone has done any detecting around Cobar? Is it a nugget bearing field? Any state forest in the area? I've been googling but not a lot of info about the area!

Looked around a lot of the neighboring creeks with the 5000 but mainly scouting for different Copper Ores. Most of gold in the area was only a Bi-Product of that huge hole in the ground, and what a great site that is.

Did find a few pre dec coins and a couple of flecks of gold dry panning, But wouldn't recommend it for the detector.

You'll be beside yourselves at nundle walnliz, I've never seen so many different rocks in the one place!

Nundle is on my list to detect as well , maybe this year or next.

Hay Ben,
I have a mate who has 10,000 acres up that way and he tells me there is an old mine shaft on his property.
I'm keen to go up there and have a look with the detector and maybe a bit of hunting as well.
It's a bit far for a weekend trip so it hasn't happened yet.

I heard about a couple blokes getting nuggets there last year, on private property though. There is a lot of exploration work out there at the moment , so wouldn't surprise me to find some.

I had my first ever gold prospecting weekend at nundle im addicted to it now I am already looking to get back up there in the next few weeks. I even manage to find gold, just had to dig deep behind a jaggered rock I had gold just sitting around me when I let the water settle arond my little hole. Met a local who helped my pan properly as it was taking me ages as I didnt want to miss any of the gold. Brought some dirt home to pan and that all ive been doin after work each day. Even made a blue bowl to help get through the fines quicker.
Nundle is a great little town heeps to do and see, I wish I had a mate who had a few acres up there id be up there every weekend

Like to know if you ever checked that 10,000 acres out Cobar way, also hae a mate who recently purchased a similar size place and wants me to go out and have a look about, and is around 100k from Nyngan. I have put up a post today looking for any info and or advice! Appreciate a hook up if can help! rgds Chris
