Out for a quick swing the other night at a new beach spot I wanted to try. Found an area where the sand is shallow with clay underneath. The old copper nail and the bangle came from there. The sinker looks like an old homemade variety and the ring is a junker. The bangle however is stamped "Tiffany and Co .925". After cleaning it up it looks more gold than silver to me so I'm wondering if it is gold plated (rose gold maybe) and silver underneath. I've attached another pic of what it would have been originally, a triple bangle probably with a heart charm or something. I'm definitely going to head back to this spot but need to wait until the tide is low. If nothing else, the old nail tells me there might be a bit of history sitting on the clay.

Haven't had much time over the past week to get out so I've had to take my chances with a few short bursts. These are all inland finds, no beach detecting this week. The stag broach I found with my very first swing. This has happened to me before (big silver broach from a couple of weeks ago). It's very weird how you can score something cool with literally your first swing - I think there is something else at work beyond my comprehension. Aside from the broach, I found six pennies in a spill - bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang ... thought it would never end. I like the half d-buckle - probably has some age. The penny on its own was from a 15-minute dig last night at my local. It's full toasted except for the date thankfully - 1863. I'm hoping to get back to the beach soon and waiting for a low tide to hit a spot that looks promising. All the best til then. Clod.

Hi all. Except for the three half pennies (top right) which I found at my trusty local, the rest is from a spot which I've had a lot of success at over the past 6 months. I've found over 100 pre-decimals at this site and I'm really having to work hard to find any more, though I did find a nice 1900 thrip and two more half pennies (1899 & 1921). I'm now digging the deeper sub-18 targets on the Nox that I've ignored at this site in the past. This means having to dig quite a bit of led and foil, but I am getting some results.

There's a clock winder, three buttons (one is a Best Ring Edge maker), a led bag seal I think (there is writing on the back and front which I will take a closer look at), part of an old pen and a spoon marked "POTOSI SILVER" which was a maker in Northampton in the UK, though it is actually silver plated not real silver.

I checked out that Petosi mine in Peru, Indi. It's something else. A mine and a mint and it's been around since the 1600s.

Out for a quick one and half hour swing last night at the beach. The tide was high and it was a bit choppy, so i stayed out of the water mostly. I found three tiny pieces of jewellery - a copper pendant, diamond (bling) earring and a little silver flower. I've just started using a new scoop with much smaller holes. These finds would have probably fallen through my other scoop and been a pain in the arse to recover. The other thing I found was a flat, rectangular piece of lead with a hole in it. There are no markings on the lead. It's about 4-5mm thick and bends under a small amount of pressure. Any idea what this would be used for? All the best, Clod.

Got out to the beach today for a few hours and found a nice 9ct gold ring. Found another ring but it's a junker. Also dug an old piece of homemade jewellery I reckon. Unfortunately it broke in the scoop. Couple of thrips too which topped the day off. All up a great day. Really good conditions and I even spotted a beautiful banjo shark.

I've actually just bought a diamond tester off eBay and am waiting for it to be delivered. Suspect they are CZs but you never know.

Your current spot looks pretty good, Goldpick! It is good being able to get to the beach, though it can be hit and miss.

It's impossible to tell is my experience. I found a silver ring with 8 very shiny stones and I expected them to be CZ's and they are real. Another silver ring I found had a stone that looked just as good as my wifes diamond ring and it was a fake (wife's tested as real fyi)!

A pretty productive evening. My best ever in terms of rings - four all up. Two gold rings. The onyx signet ring is 9ct, while the other men's ring is 18ct. The two smaller rings are silver. As for the five cent pieces, sometimes you just find a lot of the same thing. Weird.
