STORM UPDATE: The storm warning area has been extended and now includes Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Mandurah, Manjimup, Margaret River, Mount Barker and Perth. The first places to experience the storms this afternoon will be southwest of a line from Margaret River to Walpole. The system will then extend to regions west of Albany by Sunday evening and then move through the remainder of the warning area during Monday morning.
Damaging surf conditions are likely, which could cause significant beach erosion between Cape Naturaliste and Albany this afternoon and extending northwards to Perth this evening. Higher than normal tides may cause flooding in low-lying coastal areas this evening and along the south coast on Monday.
A wind gust of 93 kph was recorded at Cape Leeuwin at 9:17am on Sunday morning.
Because of the forecast severe conditions, tonights annual Carols by Candlelight for Variety at Langley Park in Perth has been cancelled.
