I came across this bloke sitting on a rock in the shade while having lunch this afternoon. I had never seen one before.
Its an Eastern Water Dragon for those like me , that didnt know.

It looks like he has been made out of a few bits and pieces of other lizards. Very unusal.

He was very friendly and came right into where we were having lunch obviously after some free food, but as we only had beer he was out of luck.

He was in Lane Cove River Park.

Bob

His name is chubchub, and he will eat out of your hands, we have a couple here that are very friendly, they love cheese ;) (chubchub look up a The Simpsons    )

when he started to eye off my toes I thought that it was time to go home.

Haha we call one of ours toe biter, he comes and nibbles on our toes, doesn't hurt, but it would if he latched on but no he just nibbles

I'll get a photo over the next few days ;)

Went for a walk there once, thought the place must have been teeming with snakes with all the rustling. Turns out the place is overrun with these guys, guess they are happy in their place.

Bloody hot there today I'd think, hence the beer lunch :D

It was a lot cooler down by the river than in the flat I live in. I wouldn't like to go for a swim in that part of the river though . It looked like that it would be full of submerged snags. As for a beer lunch, I have liquid sandwiches most days for lunch. :D

Awesome lizard Bob!

I have only ever seen this variety which is no doubt related:

We have a smaller one up here called a gilberts dragon, which is similar, but is not a water lizard and is more flighty than those water dragons, theyre beautiful lizards the water dragons.

I think that my lizard is just a bit cleaner than yours. I would be more worried about the big blurry head that is the the right corner of your first photo.

cheers

Bob

 reckon you right Bob!

Hadn't even noticed the old stump with the sunken eye, good pickup! ;)

River was low at the time and its possible that it could be a "mud monster" of some sort 8)

Cheers,

Billy. 8)

Here is Chub chub and Toebiter, they are friendly little buggers and funny to watch they run around in circles around our feet and don't mind nibbling on toes and fingers they are gentle little reptiles

Great photos. Looks like a male and female pair there.

They look a bit smaller than the bloke I found.

Id still be a bit worried letting them nibble my toes though just in case he decides not to let go.

Haha they won't latch on, The big one is a female currently carrying eggs she was half that size last year, the little one was half the size last year and is only a toddler, there is one we call Maxi he is twice the size of the female but we haven't seen him this year.
