Hi everyone,

I am currently building a high banker sluice and need to source some aluminum expanded mesh. I live in Forbes NSW. Where would be the best place to try and find this?

Thanks :)

I think expanded aluminium mesh is harder to get than the gold.
Ive been to many, many places. the best anyone could do was to order in a whole sheet at $200+ dollars.

If you find a place let me know and i'll do the same.

I cant remember the name of the company (found it online yonks ago) in south bribane but they supply variouse sizes and styles of alloy expanded mesh but ya have to buy a big sheet of it(2.4x1.5m/no offcuts)...I bought a damaged 1 for $100 cash!

mesh is where you find it! lol

scott

Maybe we could order a sheet and split it. I could get sheet of expended for about $100. I am in Melbourne.

Found 5 sheets of it at one of our local scrap yards. :) :)
Got a hunk of it
That was after searching the whole South Coast.

Really depends on Guage but steel is readily available at any decent steel supplier alluminum is a bit tricky as there is not alot of call for it.

Try places that make ute cages and mods to campers etc. You should be able to get small ali mesh offcuts. Steel will be more common. Heavy equipment repairers may have offcuts of catwalk mesh

That sounds like a good find do you have any left i need a piece 300mm by 600mm

ha ha im after some to lol 300x 600 someone should buy a sheet and sell it in ebay at that size :p

The steel seems to work fine, I got a piece about 700x300 from the offcuts at a metal joint for $5. It might add a little extra weight but at a fraction of the price(or free) it's much easier to get a hold of.

B and b offroad alluminum supplies in ballarat do alot of custom work they often have lenghts of offcuts. Worth a try if your in town.
