No mate ... Not me
I did my part by not paying attention to what i was doing while clearing the side paddock
Fortunately my action didnt cause him to abandon his bower.... He rebuilt it , good as new
I do my best to pay penance by providing all sorts of blue objects for him to collect
He really is a fussy bugger ... He only picks certain shades or varients of blue.

I have tried to get photos , without much success
I put my offerings outside my back door so i can see them collecting their treasures.
I have seen 6 birds at once...
1 mature male , hes very glossy blue/black with piercing blue eyes
At least 1 immature male ,young males are very similar ,if not the same, as females ... Basically drab olive green however have a yellow/orange beak . It takes 7 years for a male to mature and turn fully black.
And 4 females .
I thought only the males collect objects but ive seen the females flying off with things too.
Ive also seen the females collecting orange peels and onion skins
Ive only got my ipad to take photos . So far conditions havent been 'just right' for good clear pictures. I have gotten video of them aswell but also not cear or close enough for any reasonable quality.
These are Satin Bower Birds.
I have also seen 2 Regent Bower birds down in the gully below my place
'Regents' are the most vibrant yellow/gold and black in colour and a beautiful melodious voice

Sounds like you live in a great spot sandta!

I have a willy wagtail nest about 2 metres from the front door and the 2 chicks are just about ready to fly.

Cool critters the birds are.

Idea for a "what bird did you photograph today" maybe?? 8)

Persevere with the i pad mate and bet you will get a cracker of a shot.

Cheers and good twitching,

Billy.

Just shows the dedication and strength of the mating instinct in the male birds, I hope he finds a mate.
