(Edit) I hate typing on my tablet, sorry about the title.
I haven't been out for ages because I have been maintaining the fleet, ie fixing bloody cars and thought it about time I got away from the house.
I was supposed to go to Mongarlowe 2 weekends ago but car problems stopped me from going and I am hanging out for a dig.
I didn't have time to get to anywhere gold bearing so about 11.00 this morning I took my wife, the dog and the GMT down to a beach on the bay which I knew was dredged up there during the construction of the 3rd runway.
After giving the dog a run around and while my wife had a read of her book I took the GMT for as walk along the beach.
Expecting to dig nothing but junk given that the beach was sucked off the bottom of the bay I decided to dig everything.
WOW was I surprised and glad I decided to have a look at all targets.
After about 5 steps on the sand I found a 1c piece and thought, Hmmmm, this looks promising anyway about 10 minutes later found a realy cool looking ring. Im not sure if its silver or not it's had the band cut.
Another 10 minutes and BAM, that unmistakable zip zip from the GMT said Gold. A nice gold sleeper ear ring.
I dug a heap of rubbish, lots of aluminum foil, nuts, bolts, nails, ring pulls, sinkers, hooks, a couple of "D" shackles, tent pegs, the GMT even found a piece of bird shot in all that junk.
Anyway I get the "I'm hungry, can we go" from the wife so I didn't get to finish the beach.
So for under an hours digging I think I did pretty good considering I didn't expect to get anything worth bringing home.
I think this outing has restored my faith in the GMT. I may even give it another go down the river next time I'm there.
