Fry3d, look up Age of Fishes Museum at Canowindra, send them a photo, they would probably be able to identify it if is indeed fish scales.

They look to me like Lepidodendron (Scale Tree) fern fossils:

That same fossilised palm / fern I have found in two places, Central Qld and Tamworth.
