I think you can still do that, but it posts to the public galleries automatically, which invites comment. I have my galleries set to hidden in the account settings and just don't participate in the social media side of it.

My free photobucket account is still working as it used to with embedded links. Is it just new content they are doing this with or all content?

..... mine too, checked my pics that I posted many years ago on a car enthusiast forum and the pics still display in all my posts!

I downloaded all the pics I wanted to keep from my account yesterday, just incase they start charging everyone, if they do that I'll just delete my profile.

I can understand them wanting to charge a small fee to use any new content after the change in conditions of usage but retrospective charging to keep older links alive is pretty dodgy in my opinion.

Starting to notice that this is happening here already, links are dying and the dreaded photobucket sign at the top of this thread is showing in some threads now.

I'm deleting my photobucket account today. All future photos on the forum will have to be uploaded here sorry to say. There is nothing we can do about this.

Can your photos be saved to your phone or PC, and then just reposted in with permissions on here in anyway to circumvent this problem?
All mine are safely on-board here anyway, so it won't affect my few photos in any way.
Would be a shame to lose valuable training assets though, if we can find a quick solution that worked all would be well. 8)

Hey Silver, yes you can download the images from there back to your home computer, you need to right click on the photo, open it in a new tab, then right click again and then click "save image as". I did this yesterday with all my pics before closing my account.

The problem with doing that and then re-uploading them here is that you can only edit your posts here for a short amount of time....

The mod team can even save members photos from their photobucket account and then reload them here if done before the dead link happens but that could pose copyright issues, the other problem is there are thousands of images hosted by third party websites and it would take way too much time and effort to accomplish this. Photobucket really have everyone at their mercy regarding this. After the dead link picture is there it is gone until you pay the "ransom".

My photos are all here on PA too but a lot of members pics aren't, such as Shivan's in his thread here.

It's not the members fault as this is what the hosting sites are for, it's photobucket's extortion attempt that is the problem, they could have just done this for new content only.....

This issue is really going to screw up thousands of different forums and blogs.
