I always go along with the scam and offer to pay over the odds to seal the deal. Then i get payment details. Then i tell them ive sent the money and act stupid for a few hours when it hasnt arrived. Then i pretend to get annoyed at them for wastng my time for giving me wrong payment details... Then i tell them my money has been refunded because the seller is unverified. I basically just waste their time, asking ridiculous stuff really..like has it been serviced rrcently?and where has it been serviced and has the master trickle rom capacitor :D been replaced recently etc etc as the more time that they waste trying to scam me then the less time they have to prey on more gullible folks.

If they get 3 like me in a row they'll just give up. Unfortunately there is an idiot born every day.

Yes, a fool and their money are easily parted.

BUT the bloody worrying part is how did all those fools get that money in the first place?

i only use pay pal
however i always read feed back on the person before i bid or pay for anything i have never been caught out
if its a large item money wise ($1000 + ) i make sure its a pickup and cash on pickup
i have had one thing turn up which was not as described i rang ebay/paypal and they could not be more helpful they froze the money until i got the correct item
it turned out the wrong parcel was sent to me but as i said i have no issues with them except the fees that you have to pay

I must say that I've bought and sold some very expensive audio gear over the net through ebay and on audio forums and have never been scammed, maybe I've just been lucky, but yeah there are some horror stories about people being ripped off. :|

As have I. I've sold Items in the thousands and accepted cash. It is easy to spot fake notes.
