Gday all,
Interested in some pointers for detect in Bendigo and surrounding areas.
I will be in Bendigo in October and would like to spend about 4 days having a prospect and general look around.
Will either camp on site, subject to weather, so any good camp suggestion would be good, or stay in a van park and day trip it.
Any suggestions appreciated
TIA
Steve

Hi Steve.
Suggest you research a map of prospecting areas around Bendigo and surrounds. There are other important goldfields North (Whipstick), East (Heathcote), South (Maldon and Castlemaine, and West (Inglewood and Wedderburn) also in the greater Bendigo area. Bendigo is a good central point to access all those goldfields.
Also google search for free camping areas around Bendigo. For instance there is a nice area right in the heart of the Whipstick to the North called the Notley camp ground but there are others within reasonable distance of Bendigo in other directions.
If I was pushed, I’d suggest the Whipstick and Notley campground as there are more than enough detecting areas close by, even within walking distance, to keep you going for a long time. Rain should not be a major issue and certainly would not have great impact on driving around the Whipstick,

Hi Hawkear, Thanks for the info mate, appreciated. I think that Whip Stick or notley might be right up my alley.
cheers

If you are in that area on the 11-12 weekend I suggest you go to the Laanecoorie Gold bash. The best time you can have with great people. It is minutes from good detecting ground.
Thanks Limpalot, I will be in the area for that weekend attending the Early Falcon Nationals @ Bendigo showgrounds 11th-14 th and doubt I will have the time but I will keep my options open
cheers
Steve
