So Saturday saw me back up at the Gold Hole. Took the long handled shovel this time and managed to reach bedrock in the bottom of the hole standing up to my Navel in water. Unfortunatley before I reached the bottom I went through a layer of burnt sticks and bark that I assume was from a fire event (probably 2003. ) under this layer the gold yield per pan dropped considerably. I managed 3/4s of a gram of flakey stuff and a couple of small rough shotty bits. The day was saved by the appearance of a nice little puglet, speci weighing in at .4 grams .
