Thanks for everyone's patience, I've had a busy weekend, unfortunately not prospecting related.

Anyway another science question. Somewhat related to the last few we have had.

He was a pioneer in his field, and while born in the USA, saw out his days in Australia. His state university maintains a museum in his honour. Like me, he was among other things an amateur radio operator. He started out by constructing the second ever example of his speciality in his back yard.

Haven't tested this one for google resistance, so it might be easy. If not, clues will be forthcoming to keep it moving along.

in fairness if you saw this woman walking down a street you would think it was a man in drag -:

Duck, Taffy Bowen is close, very close, but no cigar. Our Bloke was born in the USA. Taffy's name was not similar to a fourpenny bit, either.

GT, I'm not sure who JP Wild was, but it's not him, either.

Another Radio Astronomer! So close again, but no cigar. The bloke I have in mind is also a pioneer radio astronomer. Who would have thought there were three people out there who more or less fitted the clues!

I didn't know who I could trust. My own wife went to the police. I am injured as I have a badly injured arm. I am hiding with a price on my head. As a stubborn Irishman, I will not surrender easily.

Clue 2

Minor correction to the above. It was a friends wife that was suspected of going to the police as I was yet to be married to my belle a couple of years later.
My arm now was becoming worse and I may lose it. The bullet had shattered the bone.
