With all the hype about Artificial Intelligence, maybe we in the prospecting community should be taking some notice of it.
Thought I'd try out the CoPilot AI function on my MS Edge browser and ask it where I could find a big gold nugget in Victoria.
It just said the "Golden Triangle which stretches from Bendigo to Ballarat to St Arnaud".
Was hoping for something a little more specific so rather disappointed with my first experience of CoPilot, I pressured it for the exact coordinates of any large nugget finds but was continually put off as it obviously didn't know of any.
A little suspicious of its "intelligence", I then asked it "what is the meaning of life, the universe and everything" and it answered 42, which is just a plagiarism of the Super computer in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Deep Thought's answer to the same question. CoPilot then waffled on about how we really don't know and finally just asked me what I thought the answer was.
After a lengthy conversation, I had the AI agreeing with me that the answer could be marginally different eg 42.001 or vastly different as in 1 or 100 depending on how intelligent or sentient the being asking the same question is. I noticed that each time CoPilot gave a response it finished with a question about what my thoughts were, so I began to realise what was going on.
It was trying to milk me for information rather than give out anything of value, so have decided to stop using it to ask about gold prospecting in case it tricks some information out of me about my "secret" spots.

I've had AI fitted to my vehicle for the last 33 years and I'm not impressed with it either. I've tried to remove it and it wanted to take half my vehicle with it.

I often (attempt to) use copilot or chatgpt for fossicking places as well. Not super useful though, as the bloody thing sometimes reads my own forum posts and spits the information from my posts right back at me!

None of the accessible AI apps are Chinese. They must be working on it but the problem is that AI systems are inherently difficult to control, as has been repeatedly demonstrated using Western AI's.

The CCP have crippled their internet to prevent citizens seeing news and websites that don't fit their propaganda messaging (eg. the Tiananmen Square massacre, etc.), but muzzled AI is a very difficult challenge.

I will often use Siri on my iPhone but I turn off CoPilot on startup. I can't say CoPilot doesn't work but I don't want it and don't need it. Siri helps me make phone calls, take notes and send messages on the run. Sometimes she'll guide me to an address so I find it very helpful when I head to the city.

I don’t use either and one reason is I don’t like being listened to by ai. An example is my TomTom navigation system in my car and on occasion, just driving along talking to my wife it will say,” I am listening”. My son bought me a google speaker years ago and i didn’t even unpack it and took it back for a credit for the same reason that i had read that people were talking amongst themselves and a few hours later, on their phones and ipads, were suggestions on products they should buy and where to buy them from. That was enough for me. Mackka

Unfortunately the only way to get away from AI is to stop using computers internet and smart phones.
Chat bots are great fun ask Siri how much wood could a wood chucker chuck.

Just remember the internet was once thought to be a scam and not to be trusted back in the days of 56k modems, but we are all here.

Haha! The first one I gave the AI some key words and the second one I just gave it Prospecting Australia! AI did the rest!

Artificial inteligance.its a machine and can only find information made accesable in the system by others.
So if we all say we found big nuggets at lockington it would belive it.there is some test drills there .i sure the local shops would like the extra buisness.

Whats worse is we go to the doctor?and the type in your symptons and follow the prompts.
