G`day guys,
It`s been many years since i`ve been to vic and i was wondering if you guys could help me in making some decisions on where not to prospect, so as to save me time and not driving to the wrong areas. I will be down that way soon, what areas do you know of, that have too much growth as to make it it very hard to swing the machine, any help with this would be great?
Cheers!!!

Swinging & Digging, I love it when people underestimate my intelligence, because of your sarcasm, don`t be at all surprised if you here of a 1000 oz er being dug in the next few weeks, i will be more than happy to part you of your gold!!
Happy detecting to you / not

ironrock, you will find that generally speaking, the steeper, wetter areas such as Daylesford, Creswick, Blackwood etc are more heavily overgrown than the drier, flatter areas throughout the Golden Triangle such as Talbot, Maryborough, Castlemaine. But it really is a matter of getting out there and searching. Topo maps and google earth are good places to start research to locate flat or hilly ground and see the amount of vegetation once you'[ve identified the gold areas.

Just wondering guys, can you 'read between the lines' do you really understand what i was asking with that question?Fair enough, i dont want to give too much away, i will get out there to see for myself.
Good luck walking over it!!!

Hi Ironrock. Went down to Victoria a couple of years ago now & had picked out Inglewood as an area of interest that I was keen to have a poke about. In the end I ran out of time but a mate I was with headed up there for a look. He said it was very overgrown out there. With some persistence & maybe a brush cutter it might be worth trying? Have heard of some good bits from up that way? Could all be rumour to put us off the trail though? Cagey characters some of these Mexicans

*****, ironrock, riddles, why don't you just ask in simple english what you want? You're off to a good start hey?

Inglewood? as far as i know, there was`nt much in the way of nuggety gold found in this area, trying to find info on this on google, can be a real pain in the ssa. I`m convinced i have the 2 best area`s / towns narrowed down, it`s just a matter of putting the time in, which i will hopefully have weather permitting, a full 7 days detecting, and i cant wait.

Mbasko, thanks for that, what was that called? Cartography i think, a great way to look at the gold fields, that`s the first time i`ve come across such maps, always learning, slowly becoming godlike, got a long way to go. You might be right, he`s probably cleaned it up, that`s why he posted it now? I`ll probably have a gawk around ,could be a few left, i keep reading 'they never get it all' right? Burn off, you mean a controlled burn off by you? HA HA HA

Always a great way to look at the fields using googleEarth, geovic and geology magnetics and topo maps will certainly help.

If you like smashing through bush, check out the yarra valley, theres ( some ) nugget history here and way too dense for anyone to bother with

He may have cleaned Inglewood out though

This a typical Inglewood, can take a day or more to detect half an acre. [properly]

Atomrat, i have been using google earth for some time now, it does allow you to zoom in , not quite as close as i would like, regarding the other maps, i believe they would be best served as a 'new ground locator' would`nt they? as most of the well known fields, the majority of all gold bearing gullies and reefs were located by the old timers, therefore the job of discerning where to detect has mostly been done for us, would`nt you agree?
That`s the sort of ground i`m looking for( that Inglewood Pic if it even is there?), but the question will always linger in the back of my mind, was this area done 5 maybe 10 or even 17 years ago, considering PI has been around for 20+ years now. Well i guess the only way to be sure is to give it a crack!!!

What; that somebody might actually lie to me, Heavens forbid, who would do such a thing? ;)
