My family hail from up around Chichester dam, my uncle told me a story of how during construction of the dam a heap river soil was dumped on what is now the old Chichester cricket pitch.
He has an old old cheapo detector and says when he ran it over the cricket pitch itself it indicates there's gold underneath. So it stands to reason the creeks under the dam wall may yield some nice yellow treasure.
But this is just a theory of a complete newbie, maybe I'm way off.
