Anyone know their Damascus steel

True Damascus steel is never layered, it is and should always be one contiguous billet of steel. The patterning of true Damascus comes from the composition of the ore from which it is made.
Pattern welded steel is not and never will be Damascus steel, it does not have the very fine carbide arrays in it nor the very small percentage of Vanadium that give it the true Damascus pattern.
