Found this detecting at Jupiter Creek the other day, I wonder if they threw it down in frustration, or just left it behind? :D There really are so many hot rocks there that can frustrate the VLF detectorist, my rare earth magnet on my pick was absolutely caked with magnetic ironstone, had to clean it off literally after every hole!

I know a frustrated 305 user, he just doesn't know he is(ignorance is bliss)aaaaaahahahahahaha.

I'm a frustrated 705 owner but the manual is not mine. But there could be another manual up there after this afternoon. Will try my luck. At least the gound might be easier digging now.

I found dropping the sesitivity helps cut all that extra noise out. If you are serious about gold hunting and have heabily mineralised ground honestly you need to spend a bit of money and get a machine that has lots of adjustment etc

How do the VLF machines do on the left (road side) of jupiter creek diggings? I take the GPX4500 there sometimes but the EMI nearer the roadside is ridiculous though I have noticed some holes dug there by detectorists so someone must be working this area somehow

XTERRA is pretty immune against EM I. I have been using it close to substation and directly under high voltage 330kV lines without any interference.

Well I guess I now know why you found the manual up there.

Tell you what though, I would like to be in there if a fire started. Fair dinkum it's fair thick and dry in there.

It's probably more due to the fact that the area has been picked to bone, plenty of hot rocks down towards the sluice dam too. The scrub there is mild compared to Chapel Hill, that's one place that will go up in flames should a lighning bolt hit it. :)

Yeah i drove past Chapel Hill for a look but didn't venture in. I'm not real experienced with the gold coil on the 705. second time Iv'e used it. could have been the hot rocks but it kept going balistic. Had me digging holes way deaper than it would have been detecting. it behaved much better at My Crawford.
Think I may head down to the triange for a swing just to get used to it a bit. Could be a good idea to go with someone with a bit of experience.
Ah it all fun anyway.

Cheers
