Found at a creek in Brisbane while detecting???:)

Yeah there are quite a few of them gotta leave Brisbane on Sunday Arvo,so I need to find out before I go,so I can collect more if they are any kind of gem;)

Tourmaline, Topaz, Beryl/Aquamarine or Zircon (unlikely) would be my first suspects. Great colour to them, I'd collect more if it were me there. :)

Would be interested to find out too though.

You mention they were found while detecting,

  • Were they sitting on the surface?[/*]
  • Were they concentrated or scattered?[/*]
  • Is the area known for certain kinds of gems?[/*]

Hopefully we can get an ID before you leave.

The area would be very helpful, but I may still be stumped. Specific Gravity test would be helpful too. Hopefully it's not someones fishtank gravel......

I'm with Nugget hope someone can ID them before you leave.

did you end up finding out what they are Bigjilm? they look wonderful!

Look like glass beads, if you have a loupe (x10) you should be able to see if there are any bubbles (or high resolution image enlarged on computer should do). Oxley is partly industrial area therefore they maybe some type of byproduct. Otherwise, if they are gems it would be very interesting to know what they are. S.G. test or maybe refractive index.
I am a qualified gemologist I could run a few test (for interest sake), so pm me if you get the chance.

Spewin, had a look through the loupe and these an air bubble in one of them, could that be natural or do air bubbles not form naturally?
