Hi all,

Got the bug over christmas and got back from leave, lost my job and bought a metal detector. A guy needs a hobby right?

So am working my way around the various playgrounds in the local area and cleaning up the bottle caps and ring pulls . With the amount I'm finding I'm almost ashamed of my fellow territorians.

Now holidays are over I am thinking of hitting the camping grounds out towards the Cotter Dam and just do a pass through to see what I can hear and perhaps find petrol money.

Will probably add a Garrett panning set to my collection this week.

Now to continue pouring my way across the site and improving my knowledge.

Cheers,

Dom

Welcome to the forum. We look forward to hearing all about your upcoming finds.

Welcome Dom. Let us know how you go at the dam. Don't get to disheartened by all the ring pulls and other crap. It is part of the challenge, all be it frustrating at times ;)

Welcome Dom.....should be heaps of lost items down Batemans Bay beaches after the big crowds at xmas.....worth a look. If u get those garret gold pans then Oallen Forde is a great place to try them out....only an hour away. If u haven't got the pans yet give Brad a call at Aussie Detecting and he does the best prices i know of...get yourself a Garret Super Sluice and you won't regret it.....cheers Wal.

I might have to make time for another trip down there - we went down the Australia day long weekend - the most we found on one beach was a pull ring but my girlfriend was happy as it was the first thing she'd found. Wasn't the smartest weekend to head to the coast but at least it wasn't raining when we put the tent up. Pulling it down on the other hand.. drenched.

Haven't gotten the pans yet but was definitely leaning towards the Garrett ones.

Cheers,

Dom

Hi Dom, also new to this forum in Canberra every day.

If we get any more MD swinging people in Canberra we may have to organise a weekend get together and go pick clean the Cotter picnic areas.

Dodgy river beaches, camp grounds and children's playground equipment. Every novice detector swingers dream come true.
