Good post HTY, but, these guys have basically just "rewrote" the book on the "hour glass effect" gold can "sometimes" take, especially when formed in Quartz reefs, and don't forget, if it's going to do this vertically, it will be having a crack horizontally also (hence, declines and drives underground)
They're summary of the depth between the so called pockets I find a wee bit inaccurate, possible, in the perfect scenario, yes, I have seen it before but only for a short distance, throw in a couple of faults, fractures, and some other large technical termed underground events, and your going to find anywhere from 2 feet to 20 feet plus your "pocket" of gold has taken a trip to.
