Inspired by Paulmarr/Bogan and Goldpick's ongoing threads I have decided to make my own. Have started it from my last 3 hunts, and while I dont quite get out as often as I hope too, hopefully there will be 1-2 updates a week.

As my sig says I run an XTERRA 70 with a 6" 3KHZ coil and a Garrett Pro Pointer.

My BIGGEST issue at the moment is im struggling to find new places to detect so many of my spots are multiple revisits.

4th May
1st spot got me a 1908 UK threepence and 50c
The other spot few spendables, 2006 socceroos thingy and 1 Baht coin

17th May
First time out in over 2 weeks boy I was hanging. 200km round trip for a shocking day. Luckily the 2nd spot produced a very nice 1952 Florin. FINALLY broke the 47 curse lol..(In a year I have found 7 X 1947 Florins in a row)

AND yesterday 29th May
1.5 hr drive there 1.5 hr swing 1.5 hr drive home lol
Revisited a site for the 3rd time

1st target was the tiny ring pretty sure a junka
Then lots of junk with 25c
Next was the 52 shilling which im happy about...a silver a swing last 3 hunts
Then I came across a coin spill with majority 2s and 5s with the little clasp next to it. So would have been a pouch/purse/wallet.
Lucky last right on no light was a stomper ring. Heavy and looks like its silver with stones. Unfortunately its got mower damage.

Cheers,

Jason.

Yeah no Joke aye Twapster! Surely the mower blades wouldnt have ended up too well!

Very nice - thanks for starting your thread! The 1908 three pence looks to be in nice condition and actually they all are - and three silvers in three sessions is a great result! Getting rings straight away is a really good sign that you are getting good with your detector - well done!

Thanks mate yeah would have a couple of hundred hours up my sleeve now if not more. Like I said my biggest issue at the moment is just trying to find some new places. I'll sit on google maps for hours and just give up, Or find a spot, go check it out and theres an issue (people using at the time, no access, highly populated surrounds etc) Hence why Im focusing on the mid North more at the moment with far less population and higher rate of pre decimals.

Nah no markings unfortunately but it weighed in at 15g! I pretty damn sure its silver though.

Just finished work, keen as to head back to the last spot but looks like weather may have different ideas :(

Sometimes the hallmarks are very hard to read on older rings, some are nearly worn off, whilst others can be on the base of the ring and not on the band. Had one ring that I could barely make out the 25 of a .925 hallmark - needed a magnifying glass to see it properly. :)

Yeah I reckon ive got a few silvers not marked. The fact its damaged just put me off, straight into the jewellery bag no cleaning or anything.

Okay so I made the call and took off for my trip to the previous spot the other day....and boy it was WET! Pretty dismal finds but still okay.

Steady rain the whole time I was detecting, not very pleasurable at all, not to mention everything getting muddied up big time.

However my first decent target was the 1960 Shilling!! 4 for 4 can't believe it.

The other interesting item is the DOWNTOWN LEISURE CENTRE SA Token, NO CASH VALUE.

The Dwontown token is a great find! (As is the shilling) Those of us who are old enough can remember this arcade and amusement place on Hindley St. - I remember it well - parent dropping their kids there for the arvo and playing the first video games like Space Invaders... Thanks for the memories!

Ah thanks man I wasn't sure what it was for, had a bit of a search but mostly found ebay ad's selling them. I originally thought it might have been Dazzleland related.

So what era are we talking? Pre decimal or not quite that old?

Sorry for the lack of updates, Pulled my 4by off the road for a 200k service and it has taken longer than expected! Hopefully be done soon so I can get back out there, im hanging for a swing.

so hadn't been out for 3 weeks! Finally finished the 4by, regoed and went out to the previous spot. No luck on the silvers but found 2x buttons and a junka ring. Then hit a new place where more of the moderns and the toys came from, then on the way home stopped in to another spot ive done a few times and pulled 4x pres and $5.10. It wasnt the best swing but man it was good to get out again.

$18.75
1916 COA penny
1933 COA penny
1943 roo half penny
1925 COA half penny
1x ring junka
1x button
1x possibly gilt button
Awesome but damaged huge matchbox super kings pickup truck 1974
Old bent spoon with crown stamp

The button I thought was a bullet headstamp, pulled out half then the other half, after a quick clean noticed theres a bit of a pattern and possibly gilt.

Also had a very close call with a spider, went through him as he must have been sitting next to the penny about 8"down, and ended up coming up with my trowel "flick", noticed the coin, then the spider lol!
