Im thinkin its been photoshopped as there is loose scree hanging were loose scree cannot possibly stick. Also if he is an sort of an operator he would have made his bench flat not inclined as it appears in the picture. ;)

Sloping bench is fine if it doesn't rain.

?

Bit of clay and some rain will show how easily grouser plates can become a sled though. 8)

I see it this way.......

That's the way I seen it to Wally.
I tipped my head a bit and it all lined up.
I still reckon the bloke's got cast iron undies though. :D

I have been on the ground next to machines in some very hairy locations. Once you hop into the operators seat and you are 3m above the ground and loose sight of the end of the world it is enough to give me vertigo. Throw in the jerky nature of ripping rock and hydraulics it just about has me ralphing.

I have enjoyed seeing good operators in action but am happy they were behind the stick, some of those blokes were real magicians. The best ones made themselves working platforms with clinical precision, unfortunately I have had to call ambulances for the not so good ones; Round rocks, steel tracks and gravity tend to have that effect.

I love excavators as they are amazing machines. What I respect even more are they guys that make them talk to the millimetre.

Couldn't agree more GT. I remember i got an old bloke in a decade or so ago to dig a deep swimming pool pit into a very tight spot that required some finesse close to fences and houses and at the same time get everything level. I was amazed at the speed and accuracy just watching him work that machine and then he gets out a length of clear water hose to level everything out using that hose filled with water. A truck to transport the digger, the digger itself and a hose. It was great to watch somebody so in tune with their equipment, and heavy equipment at that.
