Just wondering, up at Gympie for example there is the public fossicking area but does that mean that the rest of the creeks around the area cannot be worked at all?
Slightly confused about it, thanks.

Hi mate
Its best to always get permission "farmers have guns".
Most creeks dont have gold in them...if you have researched and found one just go door knocking and ask.
Some creeks are in regeneration areas which are no go zones.
We cant pan state forests creeks either...google maps will show you the boundries.
You can ring the Qld mines department to clarify a certain creek.

For sure, only a madman would trespass up that way.
I was mainly thinking of panning while fishing up the Mary to pass the time and wanted to make sure I was in the right before I try it.
Cheers for the reply.

The Mary is good to go... plenty of road access points for that.
I do both in the Mary.... try a spot 100m before Aldi in gympie it good for both.
Pickers and elbow slappers good day out.
Best of luck to ya mate...

I know the spot you mean, is it alright for 2wd? Was a bit messy last time I was there years ago.
Thanks again, great to get some local input.

You can pull in and park there and walk 100m down...a little dip at road side...my Mazda6 gets in with no scrape...driving caution is neeeded...hahaha no probs mate
