Hi,

I am new to this. Just bought the F1A4 detector and very keen to get some input and guidance from anyone - please! I live in Brisbane, and also keen to meet others that are active and willing to teach... I can also offer a lot of input in return.

Looking forward to meeting you guys.

Clinton

Welcome mate, I'm not much help in your area sorry as I'm WA based, is your detector modified or stock?

Hi

Thank you for the reply.

The detector that I have is standard... is that good or bad? Should they be modified?

While I've played with one in the shop I've never used one in the field so I can't give an opinion based on practical experience.
The modified ones do give you the ability to use other coils apart from the stock 8" one.

Maybe contact Jack Lange metal detectors, they sell modified versions of this detector to enable them to successfully be used for detecting gold. Not sure whether Minelab will touch it since it is not one of their retail products.

Hi Shumba, any news on the F1A4 mods?
Just wondering whether to get one.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Shumba , I see you went the same way I did ...
My f1a4 has been out twice so far . Once on the beach , and once on the fossicking ground near Essington State Forest . No gold yet , but it is certainly a sensitive price of equipment . I'm still trying to understand what I'm hearing ; no doubt you will be having the same problem , but be ready to dig up a lot of bullets and beer cans !
Steve .
