Hi people...
I need some advice.
Long story short...I went overseas for two years and just before I left I buried a few kilos of silver and 6 ounces of gold in a plastic bottle in about a foot of ground.
While I was overseas my parents had the land slashed and my markers are gone...
Not sure exactly where it is.
I can hire a minelab gpx5000 from kennards.
So the big question is.... will it easily find it or will it be a waste of money..
Thoughts?
Opinions?
Besides me being an idiot for not hiding it in a better spot

I reckon my Alditector could find a few kilos of silver at a foot.I think almost any detector would find what you are looking for.Good luck.

Hire the machine if it's all in the same container I'd be comfortable in saying it will find a target of that size. Your other option is to look for a depression of where you think you buried it. Next time you try burying items of value grab yourself a GPS and mark the spot.

I am a Nigerian Prince and I have an excellent business offer for you my friend.

We are a bunch of cynical, mistrusting buggers we are, this may well be a heartfelt plea for this young man to find his lost fortune but as I type this I feel a constant and persistent tugging of my leg!

Rodsdragons, good luck in your quest to find your buried treasure.

Sorry I must go Windows technical services are on my phone, are they going to be surprised when I tell them I was the one millionth blogger on book face and they're sending me a new Mac and they needn't ring anymore.

Most machines would find it , especially the silver , but as mentioned , it would depend on if it was within certain distance from
Suburbia

GPX 5000 would be suitable depending on how close to powerlines , homes etc.

Say very little to anyone

Yes rodsdragons, we are a cynical bunch, but not without reason ;)

Scammers are frequent visitors. I can't see that you are trying to sell me snake oil or a ground penetrating radar though so...

...Even a cheap VLF detector should find it at a foot. Kilos of anything metal will give a pretty good signal. And a VLF with a bit of discrimination might be handy as depending on how littered the land is with large pieces of metal (plow blades, tines, buckets, etc) it could be a lengthy exercise to dig everything. Although for 6 ounces of gold alone it would be a fun treasure hunt :D

Best of luck :Y:

I can find it for you my friend  ]:D be careful if this is real theres mostly honest people on here but scammers are everywhere , i can verify many people on here for you , if you need assistamce .
If in suburbier the EMI could be tricky, if not the detectorwill find that easy :Y:
:D

Mate get ten posts up then you may be able to pm someone in your area that may be willing to help
Problem being you will have to say what town its in
At the end of the day its up to you
Good luck i hope you find it

Any one of us could find it for you Rod.
just get 10 posts up so you can use the pm function and then pm a mod to ask who might be close to you and able to help.
but... once it comes up you will have to post photo's of it and shout the finder a coupla cartons of the good stuff. :Y:

Rods dragons - yep that's what I was thinking, I can't see how you are trying to dupe us.

$120 certainly isn't a bad investment for what you are trying to find. GPX will do it fine. Should be as easy as sticking it in the defaults that the hire guys should show you. I'm sure you've got the location to within a 20m X 20 patch.

Go for it :Y:

And yes, we want to see photos ;)

I'm simply trying to save myself $120 bucks for a days hire if you guys don't think it will be effective.
What possible gain could I get out of telling people I'm an idiot whose lost his money.

So have you given thought to looking for a depression in the general area you think where you buried it. Maybe a bit more description on how the area has changed is it rural or suburbia. As far as the $120.00 goes might be worth as 7.62 Marksman said get your post count up to 10 and then ask for assistance via people sending you private message's and you screen the offers. If you choose to use the private message option you'll have to offer the state your in and general location for people willing to offer help the option of it being a possibility. All the best with your search.

Hahaha well done mate, l have to wonder though, if you were good enough to find 6 oz of gold and a few kilos of silver, that you need help from this forum to find out it if you need to hire a machine to find it in your back yard. Maybe just try a forked stick.

I'm with Bullwinkle.

Where did you get 6ozs of gold from Rodsdragons. If you were good enough to detect it then you would not need to be asking on here if a GPX could refind it for you.
If it was a gift or you bought ................it hire the 5000....... it'll scream at you.

Rob.
