Hey peoples ,,,, I am wanting to get a little bit serious on Detecting for Gold , but wont be able to buy a Minelab GPX 5000 etc .
What would be a decent detector for around a grand ? I would be mainly detecting around Central West NSW , IE , Gulgong , Hillend etc .

I know any detector would pick up a 5 OZ Nugget shallow ,,,, but I fear those days are over

Thanks ,
Jeff

G'day Jeff, If you could stretch that budget say to $1500 dollars then i would suggest a good second hand Minelab SD2100, 2200 or the Whites SPP. Definitely when it comes to gold detecting, stick to pulse induction detectors. :)

Hi JeffP, Large nuggets are still being found and you are within an hours drive of several places where they can still be found, though not as easily as 20 years back. Doing a little research and taking your time and learning your machine, you will do ok.

Cheers
