With these aggressive cold fronts approaching, detecting is pretty much out of the question, but on the upside, there has been some pretty good surf down at the beaches, so hopefully it will unveil some new finds. Tonight we are expecting snow on the high sections of the mount lofty ranges, I am still debating on whether to take an early morning trip up the hills to check out any possible snow. Times for possible snow are between 3.00am and early morning. Still getting rain, hail and thunder here at the moment. :(

Mt Lofty snow in 2013! :)

I was on weatherzone forum last night, and they reckon it snowed just after midnight, but not enough to have any ground cover. Need them temp to drop another 2 degrees or so for a decent drop.

yes, we have some extreme weather too. May have to belt down to Masters to get a peg basket, I wonder if APIA will cover it?

Rubbish weather down here in Mt Gambier for the last week really

Instead of snow it just hails all the time the size of little kidney stones......you know, the little ones that tear your face apart when they hit you at a 90 degree angle??

Good times!

Cheers

Don't think we got the snow but I hope the beaches have been stirred up!

Will take a lot of stirring to get down beyond 1960 level. I remember at Semaphore beach in adelaide when I was a youngun (around 1960 ish) my mum and dad would take us kids to the beach during summer. We sat on the beach with our backs against the beach wall. The top of the wall and the jetty were about 15-18 + feet above our heads, from the sand level. today you can walk straight off the beach and hardly see a beach wall and the sand is level with the jetty walkway. If you could get down to the old levels, you would find a treasure of pre decimals. Back in the old days there was a huge deli type shop ( long gone from storms) selling take away and drinks icecreams etc situated on the jetty on the northern side at the entrance, and semaphore had a huge permanent carnival and penny arcade on the foreshore butting up to the sand. The fishing and crabbing off of semi was awesome also,,,,sigh ,, for the good ol days

Hi Peter

Well I am still pulling silver coins from there - as late as last week so perhaps the treasures are a bit further away from the jetty since you were last there ;)

Crappy wether near Baw Baw. This is my mates house. A gumtree smashed his verandah yesterday so I had to go up there today to help him clean up the mess. The tree just snapped about 6-7 meters above the ground. Luckily he was not sitting there enjoying a frothy.

Below is what the road looked like on the way back this afternoon. I have been going up there for more than 20 years and I have not seen snow this low. It was snowing even near Powell Town.
