I Arranged for a scratch around with Sleckie74 to learn about my tecta settings and how to scratch around for gold from someone who knows how to find it. Met at diggings around 7am also met Patrick1 who was there too. Both guys gave me excellent advice, talked a bit about settings with a large coil, I'm using 14" coiltec elite, showed me the technique for covering the ground efficiently and what to listen for and persisting with fine signals, learnt about effects of rising sunlight and planes flying overhead on detector sounds. Learnt about continual ground balancing in both fixed and tracking, I used to only GB in tracking because I could hear the blip, now I know the importance of GB in fixed too, even though it doesn't make a blip. I didn't last very long out in the heat of the morning, nor did I find any gold, the lads stayed on longer where they had both picked up nice pieces the day before. I headed off full of thanks and feeling much better about using my tecta, knowing now that even tho I haven't been finding gold recently, there is ***** loads of it out there still and that I just need to slow down a bit and really enjoy the early morning, if I find it then yay, if not, then yay too. I have only ever found one lovely, lucky piece 14.9grams not long after I bought my tecta last October, but that's it and I started to think since then that I have no idea if the settings are right, I need help! With all the noise my machine made and frustration setting in which had me leaving signals undug, because they were there, then they weren't, then they were, etc. Now thanks to Scottie and Patrick I know there's so much more to detecting than just looking for gold and relics. I'm alive and able to go out into the beautiful bush, just up the road from home, enjoy fresh air, bird song, sunrise, a break from the noises lots of people and cars make and enjoy the sounds of my tecta having a little sing song of its own and take my time and dig anyway, it's all good exercise.
This post is to say a BIG THANK YOU to the generosity of Sleckie74, Scottie and Patrick1, Patrick for helping me out. Onwards and upwards to finding some pretties. Cheers guys.
A thousand thumbs up to you both. :Y: +999 :D
