Hi all.
This is just some notice. Can I ask you all to remember me on Wednesday night at 7.30 please.
Ive been asked to give a talk on metal detecting and gold. Hey never know might be the start of a new group of people bitten by the gold bug.
Then again it might be a whole new heap of people as members of Prospecting Australia.

Thanks Daz.

Thanks Silver. I think the folk are long way from actually getting involved given most will be upwards of 65yrs old but ill tell them about filling in their holes.

I feel very privileged tonight. I friend has just left who cant be there on Wednesday night but he wanted to help me make the night a great one for those who will come. Hes loaned me some very precious coins to show those that come.......Get this Ive got a Sov, a half Sov, a Crown 1844 and a Mexican Peso thats 10mm across. Theres a heap of other stuff but hey how great is that.

He expects me to test the Sov half Sov and Crown for the Target IDs. Wow! I feel very privileged and fortunate to have such great friends.

TD I think I'd be trying to display those coins under glass or sealed into plastic sheeting. Something tamper proof or they might not all be there when the day is done.

Yes Im with you. Mrs TD is coming too and shell be wearing a gold plated piece of eight...a dubloon...so I think Ill get her to hold the case all night.

But how good is that. This guy is a legend entrusting me with part of his collection as a show and tell.

Ill also have ..........wait for it.......a 1930 penny in the case. Impressive maybe but almost worthless as its an English 1930 not an Aussie one.

Peter if it was mine you have two chances buckleys and none but seeing its someone elses he wont sell either.

Heres the results of the talk on detecting and prospecting. There was about 20 people there all really interested to hear what "made me so enthusiastic" about prospecting. "Youve been bitten havent you". Well yep I guess I have.
I talked for about 60mins nonstop, talking about the erosion of gold bearing quartz reefs and how the eroded bits travelled. I talked about coin machines (VLF's) and then about the PI machines and finally coils.......generally. I was able to show my new 18" Coiltek mono which is just yearning to reach the goldfields.
And finally I was able to talk about how we need to be continually refreshed in our understanding of what we want to be and know.
It was a great night that they said they enjoyed. So Im so pleased for them.

Thanks mate. There were some like minded friends there that while not so interested in prospecting understood passion. These guys are mad bikets and have been for as long as Ive known them. Intetesting one guy spoke more last night in 10 mins than I think Ive ever heard from him. And it was all over his association with a family who lived on a property that was once a town before it was plowed back into farming land.
Yep great pkace to detect if theyll let me onto the pasture.
