Set the HDD password in bios and it will carry over if you re install it too a new machine.
Only way to wipe it is too do a low level format.
The tools in windows are not capeable of doing this properly.

If you find the hdd drive has one,
Go into bios,
Find security,
Hdd password,
Type the old one in,
Leave the fields blank then enter to remove it.
Reboot the machine to confirm it is gone,
Slow format before installing any thing.

Sorry Edit; The Cleaned HD Disc still retained the old password as i said i swapped the HD to the other PC and it wanted the other PC`s password.
How that is possible i have no idea Darick back then didn`t have the answer either.
That`s about All i know on this Subject.
Nice to Share. :Y:

There is a lot of stuff around but a lot of it is crap.

The proper format tools bypass the HDD's translator's and go direct.

In other words, Bypass most of the electronics on the HDD and MBO.

I have stuff here that will heat up a HDD so hot, You won't be able to touch it.
Not used very often.
The right stuff goes low and slow.

Check the HDD's manufacturers web site. They do list some quite good tools
that will do this task safely.
Best ones you create a USB stick and boot it on it.

Summing up,
1. Don't click on some thing that is so good, You can't believe it.
2. Don't be talked into some one remote-ing into your computer unless you know
them well and trust them. And that is very rare. O:)
3. Don't allow any changes while you are browsing around.

4. Have a reputable paid for Anti Virus installed. I use Trend Premium. It alerts me to any out going
transmissions and monitors certain things called ports etc.
(I test mine with porn sites. Good value for this. Not the crap, Just the activity
behind the scenes. LOL A lot of that :poop: makes me sick. :awful: )

5. If you have not asked for an email, DELETE it. don't even preview it.

5. Not sure about that email you have just received from your bank. ?
don't go any further, Pick the phone up and ring them direct.

6. And NOT the number in the email.

7. And have I mentioned backing up. ???

don't even go there. ]:D ]:D

Yes I have always been concerned about that using net works like Cloud to back up your stuff.
User beware my thoughts. Some one could well access the material my guess.
No a bad idea either if your drive if full of Good Stuff just replace the PC with a new drive and buy a casing for the original to use as an external and delete the operating files.
I`m using Real Player to download movies , youtube, songs ect. Works for me well.
Freemake was great but they have messed around with the newer version.
You can place .S.S some where in the youtube link / Enter to save movies ect but I`m not too shore if you need tobe signed into google your account.

Strange stuff going on.
Left the PC on for around an hour while i was painting.
Came back and this circle had appeared on the lower part of the screen.
Move the cursor over it and an OK appears but nothing happens.
Not shore how to remove it or whether to shut down the PC.
Did a virus scan but everything checked out OK.
