Hey John,
Hopefully not too many people will see this, but I am using the CS4 more than my Deus as it is just so much fun and it takes ALL of the complexity out of detecting like you said. (Well up until last week when I updated the Deus).
Instead of trying to guess what a TDI means, or changing frequencies or speed or something else, you just get out your scoop and dig a hole. If it beeps Dig it out is the simple process used. No discrim, no readouts, No fuss. Just swing and dig.
Depth is frightening on big targets, Been to my shoulder on an anchor and a can will get you down 15 inches sometimes! You learn to size targets very quickly and use techniques other than electronic trickery to make your digging decisions. If its not after about 10 scoops with the sand scoop then it is usually a beastly target down deep.
Here in Yeppoon I am confident I will not miss anything in the top ten inches down to bobby pin size.
Digging way more trash, but also digging a lot more crusty treasure and the Junk jewellery pile is looking impressive with a keeper or 2 amongst it.
To be honest we don't get the concentrations of people on our beaches up here. They are long and widfe and people spread themselves out over Kilometres of sand. No Rips, Not much in the way of waves either.
I can't wait to unleash this thing on Newcastle beach in NSW, I think that will be a busy evening.
Clegy
P.S I never even get the Deus out of the van at the beach anymore, wet or dry I use the CS4 100% when on the sand unless it is mega trashy.
