Hello everybody !
First as you can see in the topic title, I'm French, so excuse me for my future mistakes however I will try to don't make mistake.
So I'm 18 and I live in France, Next to Saumur ( Very great wines and sparkling wines are produced in Saumur, and what's more my father is a wine-grower, haha :D )
I do biology studies.
I really love Australia, I don't exactly why, I think it's a childhood dream. I want to come in Australia after my studies to discover landscapes and I hope to meet great people.

I'm interesting in gold, I made gold washing in the south of France and I find 0,22 g in Two days ! It's not very much but i had a very good time ;)
I also do metal detecting, I find some coins, cooper , silver but not gold yet ;) maybe one day, I hope

I'm very happy to be on this forum, I hope I will meet great people ;)
Have a good day
Joffrey

Welcome Joffrey hope one day you will be able to achieve your dreams it sounds like its a beautiful part of France you live in regards john :)

How are ya Frenchy,...you my friend are in a prime place to detect lots of good old coins,...have you tried ya dads orchard yet, I've heard of good finds in orchards as some of these old orchards have been growing grapes for a lot of centuries.
What detector do you use ?
Hope you find a hoard of old Roman Goldies Joffrey.
Cheers and Beers from Australia.

I remind that there are 0.20 g
Here are some pictures about my hobby : metal detecting. Some of my best coins. I have an XP DEUS, it's the best metal detector in France to find coins ;) And it's made in France so is necessarily a good product ;) I already tried in my father's vineyard but the soil is very hard, so it's very difficult to dig :/ It's easier to prospect in fields

Welcome Joffrey - nearly every Australian gold rush location seems to have a Frenchman's Gully, just visiting them all and planting the Tricolour in homage is the making of a wonderful tour of our wonderful land.

cheers... Casper

we'll all be getting tickets to France soon Joffrey(ha).
nice photos.

Welcome Joffery ,
Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos
we are all quite envious and jealous, as we have no such coins over here :(

Hello Joffery and welcome to our informative and entertaining forum.
I am sooooo jealous of the coins that can be found in Europe, your history
is so rich and old.
You are very welcome to come over to the land of Oz and explore our gold
mining heritage.
When yo come over send me pm and I will give you a 3 mine tour
if your interested , its in the Ballarat region.
Cheers Steve

Cools finds  dream big my friend, you obviously have an adventurous spirit.

The good thing is that aircraft leave France for this country every day and we also have a good wine industry. Have you considered bringing your father over for a tour of the sights and stay on for some serious prospecting?

Thank every body, If one of you com in France, I will be happy to have a prospecting time in order to find some coins.
I know that in France we are lucky, because our history is very rich and old. However each country has is own treasure, we have coins and you have golden nuggets ;)
But you must know that in France there is a big issue with the use a metal detector in order to find treasures and coins. We can find treasure and coins but it's forbidden to find coins using metal detector, in France where are regarded as pillager and looter. It's very different than in England, there they are regarded as hero
But we keep searching. Does France is the land of free ? I'm not sure ...

I think that after my studies I'm going to come in Australia for a year, With the VVT ;) Have you got some land or city where I will be able to find gold ? I saw videos about Kalgoorlie, it seems to have gold there ;)

Wally69, I don't considered it yet. But I think my father will not come with me because he is very busy.

Thank for all your posts ;) I share a treasure find in Angers, a city near to Saumur ;) 35 coins, it's dated to 21 after Jesus Christ ;) enjoy it ;)

Bye Joffrey

I did not discover this treasure, we was discovered by archeologist. I hope one day I will discover one ;)

it depends. If I declare it, I can keep 50% coins, but I think sometimes authorities give 50% of treasure but in money and they keep coins. If i don't declare it, of curse I keep all coins.
But I think it's better to declare very old treasure which may interest the History, but If I find a treasure such as gold ingot, an golden coins not very old I think I will not declare it ;)
