With many of the garnets I've posted being of African origin (but cut by myself naturally), I thought it time for a fair dinkum Aussie stone when some rough came my way - here's a nice big Hartz Range garnet, cut in a barion square cushion.
This is a superb pendant stone - deep red with some slight pinkish tinges, measuring about 12mm or half an inch across and weighing in at exactly 5 carats. The colour is deep but in good light the design creates a lot of red sparkle (and is based on a design actually called "Mr Sparkle"). The stone has no flaws at all and was among the top picks from out of a rather large bag of rough stones. If it were to be set, I would probably mount it in a claw setting to allow light from all angles for the best effect.
Asking $280. Price is negotiable. Cheers.
