Love seeing people having a go....project looks great.....obviously going for a 'classic' design...dryblowers are always a 'work in progress'....only another 20 years or so and you should have it sorted!

Hang on, I've got to go and mix a spoon of Zinc powder. It helps combat depression... :(

CAUTION Man at work!! :)

This reminds me of a sign I'd often see when delivering freight to the Iluka sand processing plant in Capel. I would think it quite unusual for anybody to be there if not AT WORK. There's so much of this safety crap that it makes no sense anymore.

Phil, as you know I contract for NBN/Telstra, so being that I might be working in a pit, in a footpath, I need to have my Traffic management ticket.......

This is a bad time of the year to try to get something done. Most of the suppliers seem to think Christmas is here already. They just couldn't be bothered giving any type of service. Last week I sent an enquiry to Blackwoods for a Synchronous belt and sprockets/pulleys.

The reply I got back was "Do you have part numbers? If not go to the website, you'll find them there". So then I went to the website and found only one pulley to fit a 25mm shaft so no option to change ratios.

Apart from that I've been a bit concerned about the possible short supply of Chinese built loaders. The squabble between governments could create short supply at the critical moment when we need one so I've been busy on Google and the phone. It seems that the companies who sell these things are about as helpful and eager to sell their products as Blackwoods are. Most of the companies I've contacted by their website are yet to respond. The few who have have been in a price bracket beyond our meagre budget.

This company produce a loader that should do the job. It's just a cheap Chinese loader but until we know how much money we're going to make we can't afford anything better. Twice I called the phone number on their website and left a message but got no reply. Next I used the contact page but still got no response. I decided to go to their facebook page. Facebook listed a mobile so I called that and left a message but I'm still waiting for an answer. Then I left a comment on their facebook page thinking that that should draw somebody's attention but no such luck

Meanwhile I'm busy doing a few jobs around the house. I've had a rooftop vent in the shed for years and I've been receiving gentle reminders ever since ;)

It took nearly half an hour out of my life but it's done :) The problem was that she spotted me working on the shed so she said "What about the shelves"?

This job took the rest of the day 8.(

While I'm busy Mrs M has been busy in her crossword puzzles. Then she popped down to the post office and came back with a very big heavy parcel.

I had to wonder what was inside. I've never seen her so eager to open a package :p

What a win... Mrs M just won an $1100 stainless steel cooking set :)

She hasn't finished spending the last $500 prize. She's making more money than me and having fun doing it

I did get a bit of my dryblower work done. I had to drill some big holes but I don't have a big pedestal drill anymore. Luckily I managed to get the brackets into the four jaw chuck on the lathe.

The smaller holes will allow me to adjust the speed of the airflow by changing the bellows stroke.

I turned the bin over as well and partitioned the outlet so that it drops the dirt into the riffle trays.

Next, it was time to start putting some bits together.

This frame will have two mesh sizes. The first to get rid of the big rocks and the next to only allow the fine dirt through into the bin.

The classifiers are mounted on tall rubber mounts. The next job is to create the vibration to help separate the dirt from the heavier stones.

Yesterday Mrs M tested the fish pond water and found that the phosphate level has spiked. This is likely caused by the recent malting of the large shade tree above the pond. I sewed a mesh collection bag from flyscreen to collect to output of the air-pump.

We managed to collect a lot of the leaves and a lot of the zeolite that we dropped in there a while back. It even sucked up some stones bigger than 50mm across but the small sediment remains. I'll have to come up with something better to filter that out.

What are the bushes made from MB.

No bushes. The drive shaft is 30mm. The drive end has two 35mm bearings, one running on centre and one 2.5mm off centre. The end closest to the camera has a 30mm bearing on centre and a 25mm bearing 2.5mm off centre.

That give each end a 5mm wobble :)

I guess to answer your question Jaros, all five are all self aligning ball bearings.

MB, Can't work out how you have fitted 25mm & 35mm bearings on a 30mm shaft with machining and eccentric bushes to get your vibration?

1608256538_ecentric.jpg

I set the centre of the shaft 2.5mm off centre then machined the end 100mm down to 25mm. One side comes flush with the side of the 30mm shaft the other is 5mm cut into the shaft.

On the drive end I didn't want to reduce the shaft diameter so I slipped a sleeve over the shaft to bring the diameter up to 35mm for the bearing mount.

The 35mm bearing beside it is resting on the shaft on one side and spaced from the shaft with a 5mm spacer and a good coating of Devcon to fill the void beside the spacer.
