http://s1336.beta.photobucket.com/user/kemjak57/library/ Hi guys, it's been a bit of a mission for technically challenged, but these are some of the finds for 2012. The diamond looking stone has been checked by a jeweller and he thinks it is a white sapphire, nice find it was the first target on a new site. The Chinese coins and buttons are from the Palmer River area, all the coins came from about 10 square meter area. Etrac was running hot! The canister was found with wartime relics right next to an oil bottle from a .303 enfield, not sure what it is. Anyway I hope you enjoy. The Dog tags are from the Tinaroo day area and all came from an old training area along with a lot of old port bottles, the Mcwilliams lid is the top of an old cork from one of the bottles.

Great finds kemjak, the only coins while searching for gold and not to mention the amount of nails :) are these. Some cleaned up ok

Nugget told me about the bi-carb method and it works really well. I tried other methods but they were a bit harsh on coppers so I just use a toothbrush and some toothpaste and soapy water for those.

thanks mate, i have tried toothpaste but wasn't sure if its was taking too much off the metal will try bi-carb as well.

Sorry Joe I should say that bi-carb works well on silvers but I haven't tried it on copper. And with the copper most of mine are quite corroded so I give them as much of a clean as I can and leave them. Someone told me about salt and vinegar but one of my quality coins was almost destroyed so I stick with Colgate and that'll do. Cheers, rick
