Here is a nice specimen I found on Good Friday. I got to the site I had chosen around 3pm, switched on the SDC, found a button, then two bits of lead shot, and this was the 4th target for the day. Needless to say it was a very good Friday!
It was practically on the surface and screamed like a piece of rubbish.
Not sure how much gold is in it yet, maybe around 10 grams? I'm having trouble doing the SG test I think maybe because of the air that gets trapped in the little cavities in the rock? I've tried
both methods and have gotten varying from 6 to 20 grams. I got new scales off eBay to do the SG test and then figured out that they are not calibrated correctly, so I've ordered some calibration weights.
I've had it soaking in HCL but not happy with how it turned out so it's going in an Alibrite bath tonight to whiten up the quartz a bit.
