Thanks guys. Need to get to the patch with a rake. The area was covered in a thick layer of leaf. As I didn't have a rake I felt I was like Srounger hoovering back and forth LOL! , trying to get under the leaf layer. I did suck up a few.
Hope to catch up with you guys sometime soon. Cheers Digint :)

It really is good reading these stories of little finds - I agree with a previous comment, there should be a thread for your first find of the year - each person only contributes once...I am a newbie, so still navigating my way around here - is it possible to start a new thread on this topic?

Might be hard for him to sell it as he died the other week :/

But yep that's his that I listed up for my mother, there's a link in the for sale section ;)

Sorry to hear that mate, condolences. I'm presuming he found that haul with the Deepseeker,so it has good karma with it. I have a 7 1/2 for my Deepseeker, but not the 10 1/2, but I notice my Groundhogs 10 1/2 is pretty well as sensitive as the 7 1/2 for it. I was gobsmacked when I saw that haul !!. :)

I was out in the GT over the weekend checking out some new areas to detect and came across Chuky Boy and his son Bailey (?) on Saturday, he already had over a gram so i left him to it and went down the track a bit. Despite the nice looking ground i only managed a few small specks. I moved in the early afternoon to another area and got the biggest piece in the photo. Went back there again today and got the rest. I'm not sure how Chuky ended up getting on, he was camping and i didn't see him out there today. He's on fire with the 5000 lately so i expect he'll post some finds down track.

Very happy Steve, it's amazing how some areas that look 'super' good don't seem to produce and yet others do. I don't know whether it's because they've been hit hard or just weren't as productive to start with.

Looks like you had a great weekend SCROUNGER.

Perhaps some areas look better because we can only see the surface. There must have been a lot of changes take place on the surface since the gold was formed or deposited. We can only see what's there today after years of chemical change and weathering but then something made you head to that other spot :)

Spent Saturday in the Talbot area and snagged some nice pieces for my weekend quota, interesting area as it had 3 puddlers within 25 meters of each other so I figure it was once a productive area. Will be going back as the area was huge.

Good going mate, Chuky was the only other person i saw all day mate. What vehicle are you driving now?

I drive a Ironbark coloured Pajero, the one that looks too clean for the bush ;)
