Thought I would share this fossil I picked up on a motorbike trip.
It come from a couple of hundred kms inland of the great Australian bight, nowhere near water but has a few nice shells to see.
Location was along the Trans Australian Railway line near Forrest, WA. There were lots of other fossils in the rocks but being on a motorbike space was for essentials only
If anyone can identify anything I wold be interested, to me its just a couple of sea shells

Looks related to Pectin, as in the Shell petrol sign

I'm a newbie here. I've been fascinated with rocks and fossils since childhood. I can't help but collect interesting looking rocks when I'm out exploring. Found a few amazing fossils on the weekend so decided to step it up a little and see what I can find out about them on the net. Got myself a fossicking licence and signed up here this morning.

Here's just a few photos of my finds. The large solo shell was found by a friend after I started showing them my finds. Dodgy cheap phone photos sorry. Didn't have my camera on me. Would LOVE to know what I was looking at.

600+m above sea level.
300+km from nearest coastline as the bird flies... except birds don't fly in straight lines that far, do they?
Private property. With permission. Left all in place.

I went to a garage sale about 3 weeks back and on walking up the driveway I noticed a tree-planter bag on the side of the drive and ignored it, wondered a little bit but continued on into the garage area, found some tools and wandered back out, went over to the bag and noticed it was full of fossils and druze, then a voice yelled out, "sorry, that has just been sold" as the proud owner was reversing his ute into the driveway. If only I had have looked at it when I first noticed it. Bumma!

I forgot you found that, very nice mate. Sure does make you wonder when you get seashell fossils at that altitude.
It was below high tide when the fossils were deposited.
