I'm still new to prospecting, but say I did go (any creek this is) can you still do some crevicing or collect material to pan out at a later date when the rivers are in this condition, or is it a complete waste of time?

I was at the Ovens river last week at Smoko and the ranger came past our camp looking for people doing "Illegal prospecting activities". Some guys had been reported dredging in the river. So just a heads up they do care :)
