    It sure was cold

It snowed up the road in Crookwell and Oberon, but not in Goulburn. But the feels like temp seemed about right.

    Max Merrit passes

Originally a Kiwi, Max had a succession of fantastic bands and had a long time association with the wonderful Stewie Speer on drums. In the 2000's he did a club tour with the talented Doug Parkinson (a great vocalist IMHO) and I would have loved to have seen one of those shows. "The new Meteors...

    Today I BOUGHT

Very interesting to know AF. Who knows, the suit may contain wool grown by you. I've had a few similar in the past and they are indeed light, drape well and are very comfortable. I also picked up a sports coat in a Vitale Barberis Canonico fabric.

    Today I BOUGHT

I generally wear a suit to work, but have not had a new one for a while. As #2 daughter is getting married in November, I thought I'd get one last suit before I retire next year. I'll be set for any other weddings, funerals and semi formal occasions that come my way. I've had a few from this...

    Blue Yabby

These would have to be the champions of the yabby family. Apparently they taste delicious, too. However they are totally protected. I reckon they would be a good candidate for aquaculture. Big ones can be up to a meter long...

How we used to do things.

Just saw this pic of kids having fun in the old fashioned manner back in 1898. Location is Lane Cove in Sydney, which looks very different these days!

    Gout, Bloody Gout!

A pal of mine who is on the forum gets it in his big toe from drinking good red wine (the bad stuff does not bother him) and eating pork.

    Today I COOKED.

Had a day off and a great day at Oallen with Bazza.we met a number of other members' which was great. The big flood had moved a lot of gravel and sand and a lot of it had been deposited down stream of the bridge and it was almost unrecognisable in places. One of the guys was working very hard...

    Today I COOKED.

Mackka, I reckon charcoal is the cleaner fuel but that said there are some good briquettes and some bad charcoals. Mulga and gidgee are supposed to make top charcoal, if you can find them. And yep, its great have an old-fashioned butcher. He even grows his own beef (Murray Greys or Square...

    Today I COOKED.

Hey Mackka Hibachi grills work really well. You can use beads or charcoal, but I reckon charcoal tastes better. The main thing to remember is to not use them inside. There have been a number of deaths from CO2 poisoning among people who did so.

    Today I COOKED.

Belated father's day BBQ. Buying a pork belly the old fashioned way. Fired up the grill at 7:00 am and did the belly, dino beef ribs and very thick butchers pork snags. Got to.love the smoke ring.

    Dont die in the Outback

No, I meant the Drs missing in the NT that was linked to by Hard Luck, not the Carol Clay/Russell Hill one. That is a head scratcher for sure, and everyone will be interested in the full story, if it is ever solved. Here is the latest news from two days ago on that one. This could be just...

Well Teemore, it would have been a shame to eat Bambi all at once.

    Today I COOKED.

Made pies with the left over lamb. Interestingly, the filling tasted much smokier than did the wraps I made originally. Probably the gravy I made to give the lamb some moisture in the pie had absorbed and accentuated the smoky flavor as it included the left over lamb juice from the bottom of...

Prospecting Locations-Maps-Resources web site ( World of Shiny Stuff)

The wayback machine archive is a useful resource for dead or offline resources, as long as you know the URL. It looks like World of shiny stuff (prospectinglocations.com) was last archived back in February. Here is the last snapshot of the site in the archive...

    Today I COOKED.

Made a shoulder of lamb on the Weber Summit Charcoal. 5 hours over coals and apple wood. Made pulled lamb wraps with some garlic dip and salad inside. With the leftovers I'll make lamb fillo pies, with a pic to follow.
