Fine Gold Recovery information and questions

I use that "hold at 9 & tap @ 12" method too. Works a treat. :D Although I prefer a big bottomed pan for final clean up, finding I get a nicer swirl with the 15" pan or my trusty old big steel pan. I guess it's what ever one prefers or what works for them.

Fine Gold Recovery information and questions

If you got a full pan of black sands from your sluice clean up it'll be hard to pan it all off in one go. Try panning it off in small batches & use your snuffer bottle to your advantage. You' don't have to pan it all off in one go - you just keep reducing your cons till there's nothing but gold...

    How to practice panning?

Spot on about using lead to practice. Flatten out the lead shot & then cut some up into odd sizes. Gold is usually flattish unlike a lead shot. Uhm, If I'm just panning/crevecing, everything goes in - piff out the biggest rocks & load that pan up full - use plenty of water & wash the pay-dirt...

Nice going lads. In general you don't hear anything negative about the MacKirks - Google trying to find bad feedback... AM Alaskan Flare and a newbie prospector

Too right Gavvvvvvv, If you got the material & flow right, you can shovel directly in without classifying & can pay off by finding a piece that you may have accidentally classified out had you used a sieve. My biggest piece to date(spot on 1 gram) was straight off the shovel into the McKirk(sand...
