Aftermarket Coils for the GPX 6000 - Coiltek

I’m hoping the new Coiltek coils address some of the weaknesses of the 6k rather than just adding another range of coil sizes. In dry ground that is not overly mineralised, the six is a capable machine with the 11” coil attached. In wet, hotter ground it makes you work hard. The flat wound coil...

Thanks guys. The nuggets I melted were clean and the gold content was high (over 98%) which made the process quite a simple task.

After filming the clip last weekend, my mate and I went for a bit of a stroll with the sixs to see if we could find something else. No gold but my mate did find a very small signal in water under a drop off. We couldnt recover anything so it was decided that we should return today with a mask...

Hi Folks, Good to have a cool day for a change. It was nice to get out in the bush again. A mate and I went to a new spot yesterday for a swing. He did well and came home with some nice little bits. I didnt trouble the scorer but did end up with a signal that we had to walk away from as we...

    Beekeeping

Hi folks, Went down to check one of my hives today. Thought Id take the phone with me and grab a bit of video footage. Storms are just coming through now so I thought Id quickly edit it and post it. Might give some of you an idea as to how the mini frames are made and presented to the bees...

    Coffee in the Bush

Ive been using a Kelly Kettle for years. Not sure what size it is so I filled it with water. Holds about 800ml when full. Gives enough for 2 mugs of tea or coffee with enough water left over to put the fire. Didnt want the larger one as it takes up more space and takes longer to boil. It is a...

    Beekeeping

Sorry Manpa, I didnt explain the system very well. Put simply, a board with holes in it is positioned on a hive. Jars are then place into the holes to give the bees access. Some beeswax foundation or a starter strip is placed in the jar to help the bees to start and then a normal bee box is...

    Beekeeping

Hi Folks, Decided to try a lazy trick and get the bees to build their own comb in a jar. Willing to try anything for a bit of fun. Cheers Les

Good onya Mike. It is one of those hobbies (just like prospecting) that drags you in. There is an unquenchable thirst for knowledge that comes with the territory. What Im really enjoying is the fact that you never stop learning. When you start to think that finally there is some real clarity of...

    Battery Given Up

Just an update on the batteries. Still running fine. Got the boat serviced today and got a phone call saying that both batteries were down a bit. Will replace both of them next week. Nearest agent for this battery is 1 1/2 hours away. Only 18 years old. They just dont make them like they used to.

Heres another comb section that Ive been playing with. Each frame is able to be moved around in a specially made box. I get 30 frames to the small super. They have also been very popular with the general public. Ill see if I can get into the hive and take a couple of shots of the frames in position.

    Beekeeping

Hi Mike, Good to hear from another beekeeper. Im still very much a learner in this journey of beekeeping. I reckon in another 20 years that will still be the case. Glad you enjoy the posts. Its been bloody wet down here all year. It was a bad swarming season but there has been plenty of nectar...

    Beekeeping

Hi folks, Just finished extracting 20 boxes of honey. Its good to see how the bees have taken advantage of the new regrowth that has occurred after the fires. The bush continues to make steady progress with all of the rain that we have been getting lately. Cheers Les
