How we used to do things.

Not sure if I have posted this in an earlier discussion or not, but I would go rabbiting with my older sister and younger brother, but using ferrets. It was always my job to dispatch the bunnies. Me on the right. Rob P.

DEEP CYCLE BATTERIES and BUSH POWER

Question for you Condor, do you need to isolate the solar panels when charging from another source? As a Solar panel is intrinsically a diode, so as long as the voltage does not exceed their rating, I would have thought that they are self-protecting? Also a couple of days ago a friend said that...

What are YOU doing right NOW

Hanging around inside looking at stuff online as it is p...ing down outside. You can see that I must be darned bored to even respond on this thread. Rob P.

Online, Email Scams, Fake callers/Phone scams and other scam information

In general, I try to buy Aussie whenever I can, but some stuff just isn't made in Oz. I deal through Oz websites, but find that a few of them will rip you off as well. I also try and steer away from some of the cheaper/cheapest stuff as that is often lower quality. Rob P.

    Lebanon blast

Yikes. I was there for 2 weeks work in about 2005 and would drive past this site daily. The hotel was 2km back towards downtown, the work site was 3 km past this site. I could see easily see the large silos from my hotel room, so it was likely damaged by the blast. I had to get out of there...

What do the new restrictions mean to prospecting in Victoria

Sorry, but I couldn't resist this little comeback. Where were the maroons from, who flew to Melbourne and took the virus back to Queensland? Rumour also has it that they went to Vic to do a bit of light-fingered shopping, what does that say?!! Stay at home and don't travel unless you have to...

What are YOU doing right NOW

Agree with this and yes they are Stihl. They aren't cheap (approx. $60 each) but I have two with different sized files in them for different chainsaw sizes. One sits in the van with the Stihl MSA40 for camping and "just in case" it's needed while traveling, the other one with the larger saws kit...

    Coffee machines

Sorry, misread the post, but a good 2000W sign wave inverter should run a 1200/1300 coffee machine. Most home use ones appear to be in that power range. Again, need to examine the specs of the Nespresso and the inverter, but as I said I gave up on carting a coffee machine around many years ago...

    Coffee machines

I know that you asked a simple question regarding what people are using, but I started thinking is it the coffee machine or the genny that is causing your problem. To answer your question, my old Breville is 1200 to 1300 watts and will run from my Honda 2000, BUT I gave up carting a coffee...

    SCAM ALERT: AU Heavy Machinery

The web site looks ok, except for a minor typo, but if you don't get any response from forum members I would be going and paying them a visit and have a good look at the gear, taking someone familiar with the type of gear you are interested as a separate set of eyes. They are likely looking for...

I need help from an eight year old.

Oh well, I have to say it, I like Microsoft much more than I like fruit machines. I have been using and supporting all sizes of computing since 1970 and to me, Microsoft seems more logical, and Fruit machines are for those that don't want to think. I even use a 1TB Microsoft Surface as my...

    Today I got

As an aside, as a young bloke I boarded at the same place as a bloke that worked at Harry Evans and Sons, making billiard tables. If he is still alive he would be into his 80's now, so unlikely involved in the restoration. Rob P.

What thing's are you good at?

I am a bit like 7.62marksman and while I may not know how to do everything, when the chips are down I will usually have a go and find an answer. I have a few saying that I "live by" and one of them is "I will have a go at anything, BUT don't ask me to do open heart surgery". It is a joke really...

We now live in a mad "World"

Both sides of my family came to Oz from Ireland in the gold rush days (1850ish) but "to be sure" I like an Irish joke as much as many of the other so-called bad ones from the PC brigade. I wish they would all just get a life and get on with it instead of trying to run and live our lives for...
