I have not seen the video you are talking about but we have found with 5000 take them out of special and run them in enhanced that does reduce the hot rocks

I have had about 3 older 45s but and the last old one was produced in Australia it was good one i replaced it with a new 45 and its great l like it a lot.

I used 12 v and regulatored it to take it back to 6.6v on the extreme ,on a sd 2000 2100 or 2200 you can use a 7.4 volt battery but i prefer to use a 12v battery and regulate it back to the voltage you want to run , from memory the extreme 3000 and 3500 were regulated in the detector

coiltek sell the sony type batteries for the older gp detectors .I set one up using lipo 12v 7400 ah regulated to 6.8 v worked great all day on a 5500ah it only lasted for 4 to 5 hours.

You are new to the 3000 i would run a 11 minelab dd till you get to know what the detector is telling you regards john
