iDig Gold Prospecting NEW Youtube Channel started

Well put together Rick and shows that it's not as easy as some think to turn those iron targets into gold. Keep up the good work....see if we can organize a hunt together one day. ;)

    Hi from Alice Springs

The basics are pretty strait forward Johnny....It's just that some of the fine tuning in certain timings can make the difference in a detectable target and one just of reach. That generally comes from mastering your machine over a long time, but the learning curve can be dramatically shortened...

    Hi from Alice Springs

Welcome to the Forum Johnny. You have got a great machine now so your gold tally will only improve from now on. We spend a lot of time fossicking around the Harts Range area on our way to the Kimberly most years. It's a great neck of the woods. On our next trip over I'll try to get in touch and...

This small town is rich in sapphires - and now the word is out

Wow... they certainly have gone up in price. I'd better get the faceting machine warmed up....Got stones from 40 years ago that I still haven't cut.😢....Think I'll leave the gold alone for a while and concentrate on where the moneys at.

    Porters Retreat

Cut the big one into 3 stones ...a yellow green and two blue green. still have the garnet somewhere in my collection. Got a similar stone from Grabben Gullen but smaller in size...I'll cut it into two stones one day when I get time 🤔 The pic below is the one from Grabben Gullen and went 34ct...

Got to watch out for those "Land Yabbies".....some of them lack a sense of humour. 🤔

    Good day from Campbelltown, NSW

January is the hottest but not the wettest...mainly bone dry around that time. Only suggested a different time as you asked would there be anybody else interested in joining you around that time. I honestly don't think you would get any interest from others to join you in January. 😢

    Good day from Campbelltown, NSW

Welcome to the Forum Frenchy. You will find plenty of info on here to get you amongst the gold and gems. I see you mentioned you might look at going to Tibo in January. Can I suggest you reconsider this date as the temp out there around then can get over 40 degrees and you will not enjoy the...

    Porters Retreat

Was the best Sapphire spot in NSW during the late 70's. My best stones back then was a 115ct clear party colour and a Garnet that went 95ct......the good old days. :(

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

That's the problem when you don't keep up with modern technology...we all know that you need a "Golden Retriever" to get the gold. ;)...great lookin' mate you have with you.

    New PI from Garrett, Axiom

Agree with Warren re that you go to a place like Tibo for the scenery and the atmosphere of the desert and not to get rich quick. Good to see he is always scraping the coil, as not to do so out there will have you miss more than 50% of the gold.

Can I prospect with a detector along the side of bush roads and in nearby small creeks??

Hi Jen, Welcome to the Forum. I live in Canberra so not all that far from you. Detecting on the side of the road generally puts you within the road reserve and digging holes there is not allowed. Beyond that if you are not jumping fences or on private property you should be OK as much of that...

    Hi from SA

Welcome to the Forum Beer Drinker. A lot of us just go to Bunnings and get a carpenters hammer holster to carry our picks in. Work well and quite cheap for a heavy duty leather pouch. With the scoop just drill a hole in the handle and insert a looped chord. That way you can hang it on the detector.

    Letter for permission

I never work open ground or pending ground as I have spent many years working both mining leases and 40E permit zones. It's taken a long time to gain trust of some of the larger companies, but once that trust is earned permission has never been a problem. In the early days I mainly took out 40E...

Western Australia, Prospecting and Mining Information videos - Goldtalk Leonora

Tony always shoots from the hip and his advice is always worth taking...especially about following up and telling the mining company where you found nuggets with preferably coordinates. Building a relationship is what it's all about.

    Letter for permission

I've always broken the ice with a phone call first and had probably 50% positive feedback over the years. Attitude and good manners goes a long way in convincing these companies, and where I've had most success is when I've taken out a 40E adjoining a company claim and gotten permission to...
