The basics are pretty strait forward Johnny....It's just that some of the fine tuning in certain timings can make the difference in a detectable target and one just of reach. That generally comes from mastering your machine over a long time, but the learning curve can be dramatically shortened...

Cut the big one into 3 stones ...a yellow green and two blue green. still have the garnet somewhere in my collection. Got a similar stone from Grabben Gullen but smaller in size...I'll cut it into two stones one day when I get time 🤔 The pic below is the one from Grabben Gullen and went 34ct...

January is the hottest but not the wettest...mainly bone dry around that time. Only suggested a different time as you asked would there be anybody else interested in joining you around that time. I honestly don't think you would get any interest from others to join you in January. 😢

Agree with Warren re that you go to a place like Tibo for the scenery and the atmosphere of the desert and not to get rich quick. Good to see he is always scraping the coil, as not to do so out there will have you miss more than 50% of the gold.

Hi Jen, Welcome to the Forum. I live in Canberra so not all that far from you. Detecting on the side of the road generally puts you within the road reserve and digging holes there is not allowed. Beyond that if you are not jumping fences or on private property you should be OK as much of that...

With the scoop just drill a hole in the handle and insert a looped chord. That way you can hang it on the detector.
