Well done Timbo...not many can say that they picked up gold on their first outing but you have the machine that will deliver the goods. Dave probably has given you some sound advice as well. Good luck on the next hunt...Wal.

    Snake Gaiters

I've been detecting for an extremely long time all over this great country of ours and have never had a single problem with snakes...though I have come across at least 50 within close proximity, some even standing their ground 🤔. As has been said earlier if you leave them alone they will...

    Sh(t happens...

"Holey Crap"...that's not a pleasant sight at all:mad:...You've always been a fighter and this won't get the better of you. You'll rebuild back bigger and better and come out trumps with your positive attitude. Glad nobody was injured. Our best wishes go out to you. Stay strong mate.

Hunting "GARNETS" in the Harts Range NT.

Thanks Mackka. I try to give some info where I can as the problem with these days is many of the locations I use to prospect are now unfortunately out of bounds. Much of the Harts Range has in the last few years been closed off to fossickers by small claim owners and the main station. Won't be...

Hunting "GARNETS" in the Harts Range NT.

This was only a one week trip due to me wanting to get to Halls Creek and onto the gold, but if Liz had her way we would have stayed a month. 😢

Hunting "GARNETS" in the Harts Range NT.

Quite a few of us from the Eastern States head over to WA for the winter months chasing Gold. For those who want to break up the trip over, and who also have a keen interest in "Gemstones" as well, then a stop over for a week or so at Harts Range could be a very enjoyable and memorable detour...

    First Venture fail and fever

The Pebbly beach is at the top end of Depot...only a few hundred metres. Check it out if ever you go back to the area.

    First Venture fail and fever

Great attitude Greg and I'm sure the stay at Depot Beach was enjoyable. It's a very isolated beach and the walk along the beach up to Pebbly Beach is a pleasant stroll. There is some good petrified wood samples and semi precious pebbles amongst that beach as well. Good luck with the next outing...

How did this end up in the rock ?

Could be just a tree root that has been burnt by a previous fire some time ago. Coal is generally deeper and is formed by plants and forests being covered with earth and rock over millions of years ago. Pressure and resulting heat is what turns it into coal. If the substance can be easily...

    First Venture fail and fever

The Mogo area is hard yakka since the undergrowth has come back thick after the fires. 😢 Research and a good 1;25000 topo map is a good start, but even better is a quick run into Detecta Den in Batemans Bay as they are always friendly with their advice on the area. As with most locations local...

    GPX6000 Faults/Issues

Yep... from the sounds in the video I'm sure it caught COVID somewhere down the track. 😢

    First Tibooburra trip

Good luck out there Lindsay. You are picking the best time to go as you won't freeze at night but still good temp for the campfire. You are also in an area where you won't get lost. ;)

    First Tibooburra trip

For your first trip I would camp on the Easter Monday diggings. It's only 5 minutes from town and has good phone and net recaption. Take a sturdy rake with you and rake flat some of the dry blower heaps. You will certainly get your first pieces of gold. Keep to the flats and not the main hill...

    Porters Retreat

If you were in it for the money then Sapphires would give you a far better return than gold. 🤔 Problem these days is most can't get access to the better locations.😢...Those who are lucky enough to have access cherish your permission as you are amongst the lucky few.

    Tibooburra Gold.....a beginners "El Dorado."

For every 100 bits you might get a piece around a gram. There is however some quite large nuggets out there on new patches that haven't seen detectors for a long time. To get the bigger bits you need to look outside the square, but they do still exist. The patch we found in the video at the end...

    Porters Retreat

Liz and I are avid gem cutters but time has been a problem for quite a while now. 😢 We tend not to sell many of our precious stones and have a large quantity ready to be cut...problem is gold detecting seems to always get in the way. Sometime down the track we will have to start faceting again...

"Sniping" for Gold....a rewarding way to cool off in Summer.

Geez Mackka....if I was with you on those trips eating like a king around the campfire I doubt we would have ever found a Sapphire the next day.

Agate Creek..."World class Agates on our doorstep."

Thanks mate...Liz has been saying we should get back into doing more vids as It's been a while since we filmed our prospecting adventures. Will have to see if we can make the time on some of our future trips.

"Sniping" for Gold....a rewarding way to cool off in Summer.

Still got snow water around Oberon in September Mackka.. ...December through to end of March is more friendly to the body, even when I was heaps of years younger. I do miss what Oberon was though in the good old days.😌
