    Cement sluice box idea

You could in theory... But thats the catch isnt it :o Itd have to be on the bedrock in a place where gravel normally accumulates in the normal flow of the river so it catches the passing heavies. Next problem is having a trap of some sort that gold just can't get out of, then it'd have to be...

Gday Incey, welcome to the forum and to prospecting. All good fun getting out and chasing the yellow stuff, get into your research on the cairns region and you'll find how much mining history there is around here. And as the guys have said keep an eye out for the next meeting of us locals, all...

What am I dealing with here - identification please (part 1)

My guess would be iron or at least an iron sulphate of some form. Its usually what causes the "rusty" colour in quartz.

Gold is where you find it

An empty bottle and a filter paper would be the go there, clearly it floats so I dont think the pan will catch it! ;)

Darwin / Northern Territory (NT) weather

Stay safe Davent, looks like it's doing a bit of damage around the place. Hopefully it'll lose wind speed quickly once it's over land and the minor flooding that comes with these things won't be too bad. Have a few St Paddy's drinks and take care, TGW.

    fridge light

Maybe it doesnt need to be inside the fridge? Some of those led lamps are bright enough to do your tax return and may give you enough light to see if mounted on an opposite surface to the open fridge door. Could work in a small space such as a caravan interior. Or another thought, maybe a...

Had a similar problem a while back PP, had to find s/steel tube that was exactly 22mm OD which it turns out is 7/8". Went everywhere chasing the stuff and finally found it at one of the boat builders in town, apparently its sometimes used as balustrading or narrow framework. Not sure if theyd...

    Water saving trommel, ideas please.

Yes and no, ive a good idea of what your getting at and i think your main troubles will be: - getting the thing to sink and sit on the creek bed without it being ridiculously heavy to move around. - getting your paydirt into the trommel mouth without losing some to the current. - recovering...

Croc Gold Trap Fluid Bed Sluice

? Looks like a good product there mate, have seen the old bazookas in action and can see the similarities between the two.
