Claim for sale Grawin (Carters Rush)

$500 seems to be a fair price . It would cost you that to set up a claim with no holes on it . There is not much of a market for opal at the present time . Read that there was only 100 active miners in Coober Pedy . I started opal mining in 1966 in Coober Pedy , when I was 22 .

Minelab Which Minelab Detector For What Purpose?

I only have an Equinox 800 . I bought it for lightness and price . The CTX 3030 is 3 times the cost and is heavier . I would buy the GPX 6000 if I was buying a gold machine . It is still on my "to buy " list ! At 77 the weight is a big factor .

This is an Impact Mill rock crusher I built

As the crusher turns the chains will tend to move in towards the shaft . Putting bolts on the ends of the chain , should help the chain to fly out and keep straight . This should result in better crushing . IMO .

This is an Impact Mill rock crusher I built

I have not got mine running yet , but I will put bolts on the ends of the chains . Was out for a few days last week , first time for a couple of years . Been given access to 130 acres . Just checking the joint out . There is a 3 foot quartz reef that carries gold on top of a hill . Cannot swing...

Cracow / Nathan Gorge (Qld) Queensland

I have passed by . The old timers were there and later on the big miners moved in . I would expect that it is all covered by leases .

    VIC Beaches detecting laws

I got told off by a woman for digging holes in the wet sand ..... Many years ago my mother used to pick up rubbish on the beach . She was told by another woman , that she should not do that as it was doing a council worker out of a job ! She was serious .

    Drywashing Conveyor system

I would load all my gear on my Ford Falcon , on a Thursday night . The sluice box was on the roof rack , with the hoses . The 5 h.p . pump was in the boot . So , at lunch time , Friday , I would leave work and head for the bush . 4 or more hours drive , I could then set up my camp and dredge...

    Drywashing Conveyor system

Many, many years ago before they were made illegal , I built a 3 inch floating dredge . I was not happy to find my "gold" was going over the end of my sluice box . I did a number of modifications at the top end . It was a great success , I could only find gold in the first foot of my sluice ...

    Drywashing Conveyor system

I am only trying to give you some suggestions to improve it . You could put some woven wire mesh on , it would be better than what you have got there . As you are digging down deep , I would be checking with a detector all the time . At 77 I have made many things but I have always found time...

    Drywashing Conveyor system

I would change the mesh on that screen . The material is not sliding , round bars or punched plate ? Weld 1/4 bars with 1/4 inch spaces vertically on a frame ? The rocks will then slide down . You could make it into a shaking screen . Mount on springs , add 2 - 1/2 inch bearings to the screen...

    Wind Generator

I found out that I really needed 6 blades . I am no longer in that area , the wind was light to moderate and was blowing most days .

    VIC Beaches detecting laws

I am not sure , but I think everything below the high water mark is ruled by the Maritime Board . National Parks can only rule down to the high water mark ?

    Wind Generator

You can buy carbon fiber blades on E-bay . They are pretty cheap now . A few years ago , I paid $50 + each . They are in the garage , I could sell them with the mounting plate . In Sydney .

    Central Coast NSW - Beaches

Most council machines have 20 - 25 m.m. square mesh , well ours have . So all the coins pass though , seem to be doing it less to save money . Same with grass mowing .

    Drywashing Conveyor system

I started to build a vacuum for sucking up dry stuff . Got a s/hand vacuum motor from a house system . Steel drum about 40 -50 lts . Never finished it off , still got the parts . BTW I did read of a mining company that was using one . They were mining a very rich quartz vein , so they hoovered...
